Public higher education institutions produced more studies when compared to private ones. The event with the largest number of publications was the Brazilian Congress on Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and the journal with the largest number of publications was CEFAC Journal. The Southeast region was predominant in publications, followed by the Northeast region. Conclusion: the characterization of scientific production in orofacial motricity allowed us to verify that this is a consolidated area of activity, although it still requires advances.
