Towards a Model of Indwelling: A Conversation with Jonathan Edwards and William Alston

In this paper I attempt to provide a model for understanding the theological, psychological and metaphysical dimensions of the Spirit's indwelling in sanctifying grace by synthesizing Jonathan Edwards' theological psychology with William Alston' model of indwelling. However, despite its promise, the Edwards-Alston synthesis faces substantial difficulties associated with a literal and direct union between divinity and humanity.
