Vivendo sob uma lei que, em muitos aspectos, era inaceitável-para eles e para pessoas de outras situações sócio-culturais ou políticas-uma ge-ração inteira de povos aborígines da Austrália sofreram um apagamento de sua identidade cultural após terem sido deslocados de suas terras de origem. Essa situação de deterritorialização e a busca das heroínas dos livros por uma reterritorialização possível são discutidas nes-se trabalho. This paper aims at discussing the work of an Aboriginal woman whose writings resulted from her upbringing in a country of re-invented traditions (Hobsbawn & Ranger, 1997/2008), of practices that encouraged deterritorialization (Deleuze & Guattari, 1972/2004) in their own country. Based on events that occurred in Australia, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Pilkington/Garimara's Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence and Under the Wintamarra Tree shed light on the issue of racial intolerance from the point of view of the oppressed, colonized Aboriginal people-in this case, women. Living under a law that was, in many respects, unreliable and unacceptable to them... or to many other people of the world, regardless of their socio-cultural and political backgrounds, an entire generation of Aboriginal peoples endured the gradual erasure of their cultural identity after having been displaced from their homelands. This situation of deterritorialization, as well as the heroines search for a feasible reterritorialization are discussed in this paper.
