After the acceptance of blockchain technology, there have been applications which aim to use blockchain in their fields. Various approaches have been proposed in past to build a secure Identity Management (IdM) System. This is a novel systematic literature mapping of IdM in blockchain. This paper provides an extensive review on IdM with emphasis on how the emergence of blockchain has addressed the IdM challenges faced over the years.
