The present deliverable summarizes the initial results on the development of tailored techniques for the adaptive directional LOS and NLOS reliable connectivity in RIS‐assisted communication systems that operate in high frequency bands, i.e., above 100 GHz. The RIS‐assisted systems are conducive, if not necessary, for the compensation of the attenuation in high frequency bands that are highly susceptible to blockages. In this course, the present deliverable focuses on the challenges arising by

In particular, it focuses on the employment of adaptive (stochastic and machine learning) tools for the development of appropriate physical layer approaches and of medium access protocols that can support, for instance, in the presence of blockages, highly focused beams and /or beamforming protocols for the two links between the transmitter / receiver and the RIS.
