Double alpha MEBT for H{sup {minus}} beam [report]

This note describes simulation studies of the Hbeam matching condition between a 750keV rod radio-frequency quadrupole (RFQ) and the existing Fermilab drift tube linac (DTL). The RFQ design used in this study is that of an existing RFQ designed and built by A. Schempp from IAP-Goethe University. It is assumed that the medium-energy beam transport (MEBT) line uses hardware built for a positron emission tomography (PET) project. more » ... as designed by D. Larson. The beam from the exit of the RFQ is matched to the entrance in the DTL in all three dimensions. The study shows that up to 65mA of Hbeam can be transported and cleanly injected into the present linac.
