Ironically though, these professional disciplines are required to work collaboratively with each other. This poster presentation will illustrate a strategy employed within a rural based physician residency program used to promote the strategy for intraprofessional practice. The World Health Organization through their quest to find strategies to build policy and programs to bolster the global health workforce has develop a Framework for Action on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative practice This Framework provided strategies and ideas that will help rural practitioners and health policy-makers implement the elements of interprofessional education and collaborative practice that will be most beneficial in their own jurisdiction through a Problem Based Learning (PBL) Approach. Benefits of this approach included an understanding of different professional values and expectations when approaching case management and intervention within a interprofessional setting. The PBL approach also highlighted for each discipline the resources and priorities that each discipline utilized when developing a care plan. Next steps will include the patient and caregiver as part of the PBL approach and team collaboration. This approach also identified a number of continuing education priorities which will be shared during the presentation.
