Laboratory experiment on the fixed bed was first carried out to capture the hydrodynamic characteristics on the proposing system and also extract the optimum conditions such as allocations and sizes of the structures. Numerical experiments then followed the laboratory experiment to investigate the quantitative budgets and effectiveness of the water intake and circulation currents.
