���������������������������� In order to investigate stability limit axial load of steel and concrete (SC) composite columns, an experimental work of SC column was carried out under constant axial load and cyclic horizontal load. The experimental results indicated that the stable axial load exists, which is almost observed neither flexural strength degradation nor increase of axial strain. more » ... al strain at centroid of column section accumulated by cyclic loading did not exceed strain at the compressive strength of concrete confined by encased cruciform steel. In this paper the maximum value of axial load which SC column shows stable behavior was defined as stability limit axial load, and the stability limit axial load was discussed.
