This article provides a brief description of the life and scientific achievements of Arthur Herold Lachenbruch, emeritus Scientist of the US Geological Survey. He was born on December 7, 1925, in the USA and passed away on September 20, 2021. He was a founding member of the International Heat Flow Commission.
