The purpose of this paper is to assess the level of volatility in the stock markets around the world during the COVID pandemic. Accordingly, two indices are relied upon as benchmarks for the global financial markets, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index from the United States and the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 (FTSE 100) Index from the United Kingdom.
