The purpose of this research will be to determine the extent to which the use of a computer application entitled "Kanji Box" could foster a more positive perception of Chinese character (i.e. "kanji") acquisition by Japanese language students of Western origin. In my proposed research, data will be gathered by interviewing the students in a Japanese language course periodically throughout the semester while they are taking course work specific for teaching these characters.
