The Windscale On-Line Computing System

The Windscale on-line system at present consists of a central computer, used primarily for batch processing of scientific and commercial jobs, and four remote terminals used mainly for the analysis of experimental data. Two of the terminals are connected directly to reactor instrumentation. This paper describes the system and its method of operation and discusses operating experience to date and the usefulness of such a system.
