In the paper, we present a new algebra called DUMAX designed for XML and XML queries. An important feature of this algebra is its dual mode, which is introduced to help fuse node-based features and tree-based features (both are essential for XML) and to achieve accelerated execution of XML queries in large XML databases or repositories. We also briefly discuss the potentials of DUMAX for XML query processing and optimization.doi:10.4108/infoscale.2007.202 dblp:conf/infoscale/CheS07 fatcat:6p5qlt2xxjhkjajlsiremmyc4e
