Spatial and Temporal Variation in Rainfall and Groundwater Levels in Kumadvati Watershed in Western Karnataka, India

The climate change along with increasing population has increased the pressure on freshwater resources across the world. Therefore, an attempt has been made in the Kumadvati watershed in western Karnataka, India to know the trends in rainfall and groundwater level. Daily rainfall data of 32 water years from 1984-85 to 2015-16 and monthly groundwater level for the same period has been collected from Government departments, GoK. more » ... mator is used to determine the trends and slope magnitude. The annual and season wise result shows there are increasing and decreasing trends in rainfall. However, the groundwater level shows only decreasing trend in the study area. There is a good correlation between rainfall and groundwater level. The rates of decrease or increase in rainfall and groundwater level in the study are discussed.
