8 Finally, the "Ettention" software package is introduced as a platform to implement a wide range of tomographic reconstruction problems. It is shown how the seemingly contradictory requirements "extensibility", "modularity" and "performance" can be achieved at the same time by providing a toolbox of building blocks, which can quickly be assembled to application specific reconstruction algorithms. 9
