Key Success Factors for Global Industry-Academia Collaboration Activity Based on Dowling Review

The purpose of this research is to identify the issues for activating international industry-academia collaboration activities in Japan and to present their countermeasures. In this report, based on the current Japanese situation of international industry-academia collaboration, past examples of Hiroshima University were cited as a typical case and analyzed comprehensively. more » ... ity of Cambridge in the UK, which is said to have developed an innovation ecosystem, and a report by Professor Ann Dowling of the university regarding the strengthening of industry-academia collaboration for the British government wherever appropriate. During this analysis, successful examples based on individual-to-individual relationships with existing mutual trust have been found. On the other hand, successful cases of organization-toorganization such as university vs. company were found to have conducted constant follow-up after events such as seminars. It was also found that a sense of trust was built up through the activities. In order to foster international industry-academia activities in the future, it has been shown important to carry out this constant follow-up and build a sense of trust, and its realization remains to be an issue.
