I totally agree with KING and OHTA that ignoring the heterogeneous nature of electrophoretic mobility classes is a serious error that can readily lead to misinterpretations of the significance of observed patterns of variation. Nevertheless, a large number of electrophoretic variants have been shown to reflect allelic variation at distinct loci. Referring to these by the general term "electromorph" will lead to further confusion. We should call an allele an allele.
