14-Aryl/Alkyl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]Xanthenes and Nitriles were synthesized by a green, simple and highly efficient one pot synthetic method. The dehydration of 2-napthol with aldehyde leads to xanthenes and aldoximes to nitriles catalysed by KHSO 4 -SiO 2 in neat and ultrasonication to afford the title compounds in high yields and relatively short reaction times.
