To s e p a r a t e a n d recover multiple signals in d a t a communications, a n t e n n a a r r a y s a n d acoustic sensor arrays, t h e impulse responses of multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) channels have t o b e identified explicitly or implicitly. more » ... entifiability of M I M O F I R channels, a n d obtain a necessary a n d sufficient condition for MIMO F I R channels t o be identifiable u p t o a unitary ambiguity matrix using second-order statistics. Next, we extend t h e identification algorithms for single-input/multiple-output (SIMO) FIR channels, such as t h e algebraic algorithm a n d t h e subspace algorithm t o t h e identification of M I M O FIR channels. Since t h e ambiguity m a t r i x can not be estimated using second-order statistics, we t h e n present a forth-order cumulant based ambiguity matrix estimation algorithm. Finally, we demonstrate effectiveness of t h e algorithms in this p a p e r by computer simulations.
