The study aimed to know the reality of the basic education school principals possessing the competencies necessary to achieve quality school performance through a field study applied to school leaders in the basic education stage in Assiut Governorate. The study presented a theoretical analysis of the variables of the study represented in the conceptual framework for the competencies of school leaders, and the experiences of some foreign countries in adopting the competencies of school leaders and in light of the results of the analytical and applied study.
