This paper describes torque production in a saturated switched reluctance motor (SRM). The paper begins by deriving the equations for torque if the SRM is unsaturated. It then develops an operating point model for torque in a saturated SRM using the unsaturated form of the torque equation. This results in a methodology which makes the control algorithms applicable to either saturated or unsaturated SRM's. ). Publisher Item Identifier S 0093-9994(00)03160-1. Nicholas J.
