Performability analysis of handoff calls in personal communication networks

A c ombined p erformance and dependability(called p erformability) model for dealing with hando calls is introduced. Stochastic reward nets(SRNs) are u s e d for this purpose. An SRN model of channel assignment is developed and analyzed. The method of phase type expansion is used to approximate non-exponential call holding time distribution. A discussion of how hando models with failure r elate to Markov reward m o dels is also given.
