Use of Platelet-Rich Plasma and Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Foot and Ankle Surgery

Bone grafting is an important tool for filling osseous defects in foot and ankle procedures. Many alternatives exist for use by the surgeon, each with their own risks and benefits. Two adjunctive materials available for use to enhance the effects of these grafts are plateletrich plasma and mesenchymal stem cells.
