Fabrication of porous alumina ceramics by simultaneous thermal gas generating and thermal slurry solidification

In this study, porous alumina green bodies were formed from alumina slurries by simultaneous thermal gas generating and thermal slurry solidification. In order to cause simultaneous thermal gas generating and thermal slurry solidification, NH4HCO3 and potato starch were used as a gas generating agent and a gelatinizing agent, respectively.
