In the last decade, we are both witnesses and victims of an obvious illiberal turn throughout the world, including in the West, but especially in Central and Eastern Europe, which challenges the political science to provide an explanation or understanding and perhaps even solutions to redress this (apparently) new course of politics. ... k in order to understand the notion of "illiberal democracy" starting from the initial meanings attributed by Fareed Zakaria, who coined the term and imposed it in political science; (2) the second subchapter presents the main causes (or motivations) of the rise of illiberalism in present-day Hungary; (3) and the third subchapter exposes in extenso the conclusions of some sociological studies dedicated to the "Hungarian dream", by analogy of course with the "American dream", but also in comparison with the "Russian dream", which offers significant data on the real and actual, individual and collective aspirations of the Hungarian society, in quite a stark contrast with the discourses of its politicians.
