Accurate values of \(\wedge\)o of benzoic acid in different mixed solvents were determined from the relation \(\wedge\)o(benzoic acid) = \(\wedge\)o(HClO4) + \(\wedge\)o(C6H5COOK) - \(\wedge\)o(KClO4)

The free energies of transfer of uncharged acid,ΔG\(_t^o\) (HA), have been coupled with the free energies of transfer (ΔG\(_t^o\)) for the reaction HA\(\rightleftharpoons\)H+ +A- and ΔG\(_t^o\)(H+) values previously determined in the laboratory, to get ΔG\(_t^o\) of benzoate ion.
