Sweet potato plants, var , Beniazuma , were grown with the recyclcd paper − mulched cultivation ( R . PM ) in sand dune field , and the growth and yield were compared with those obscrvcd in thc polyethylen 西 lm − mulchcd ( BPM ) and non − mulched cultivation ( NM ) . RPM was more effective in reducing the Qver heating of Held soil in summer and kceping adequate soil moisture compared to BPM , and also RPM was useable for preventing the leakage of soil nutrients by rains , Under such an improved

In addition , the occurrence of weeds and their growth wcre signi 行cantly reduced in RPM . Recycled paper tested here is expected as a useful cultivation material for yield improvement and energy saving in sweet potato production .
