PHAGOCYTOSIS IN VIVO OF HETEROLOGOUS RED CELLS IN MICE WITH TRANSPLANTED TUMORS

K STERN
1964 Cancer Research
Reticuloendothelial phagocytosis was assayed in mice by means of the intraperi toneal injection of Cr51-labeled sheep red cells, followed by determination of the per centage of injected radiQactivity present in the livers and spleens of the animals killed 24 hours later. Mice with transplanted carcinomas, sarcomas, or lymphomas con sistently exhibited a significant depression of splenic phagocytosis, whereas hepatic ASW/Sn/S were used.
