RESUMO: Este trabalho tem por objetivo entender a formação dos educadores ambientais atuantes nas Organizações Não Governamentais (ONGs) ambientalistas do Rio de Janeiro a partir de seu universo representacional. Puderam ser detectadas igualmente três projeções de possíveis tendências diferentes da EA no cenário local. ABSTRACT: This study aims to understand the formation of environmental educators working in the environmental at the Non Governamental Organizations (NGOs) in Rio de Janeiro from their representational universe. It explains how the various lines of representations of these professionals with regard to their ways of acting in Environmental Education (EE) and thereby understand the different trends of educational practice. The work was conducted through semi-structured interviews with seventeen environmental educators. The results show the existence of three distinct lines of representations that articulate and organize the discourse of educators. Could also be detected three possible projections of different trends of EA at the local level. Finally, the paper highlights the importance of the social representations of the universe of teachers as an important support for the current context of discussion of the ecological debate, since EA has been consolidating itself increasingly as a strategic activity to end the call ecological crisis.
