Abstract This research has as an objective to analyze the rural establishments from the north of Paraná, taking into consideration their location, the soil characteristics and the different types of internal organizations (col-lectives, collective and/or individual system). This way the article presents brief theoretical considerations about the issue of the land, its achievement and territorialization, followed by the preliminary results of the empirical research carried out in the rural establishments tracked down in the borough of Tamarana (for the significant number of rural establishments), of Florestópolis (for the characteristic of the soil and the origin of the established people) and of Arapongas (for the privileged location, characteristic of the soil, as well as its internal organization).
