... nt, following consultation with the National Museum of Ireland, directed that Liam Hackett of Headland Archaeology (Ireland) Ltd should proceed with archaeological resolution. Contract 3 Pre-Construction Testing under Ministerial Direction number A021/007 on this site in May 2005 identified a spread of charcoal and heat shattered stones. Full archaeological resolution was conducted on this site between 26 January and 10 February 2006. This revealed a shallow spread of burnt material of charcoal, mica and quartz, with occasional small heat shattered stones, a pit, a timber railed trough and a large number of stake-holes in association with the trough. No finds were recovered from this site. A radiocarbon date of 1900-1700 cal BC (UBA-8687) has been returned for the packing material from the trough and a date of 2008-1772 cal BC (UBA-8689) (Appendices 7 and 9) has been returned from one of the stake-holes, placing the activity on this site in the Early Bronze Age.
