Editors' preface for the topical issue "Finite dimensional integrable systems, dynamics, and Lie theoretic methods in Geometry and Mathematical Physics"

There was significant overlap between the scientific topics of the two activities, and several people took part in both of them. Both workshops prominently featured geometric PDEs, with particular focus on those that arise on homogeneous spaces. Lie-theoretic methods played an important role. Cartan geometries appeared as a fruitful setting in which to study problems of interest for both events. Finally, both workshops featured geometry relevant to mathematical physics, including general
