This article describes the impact of chemometrics on analytical chemistry with the example of chromatography. It focuses on applications of information theory, experimental optimization and pattern recognition. CHEMOMETRICS Chemometrics has been defined as follows (1) : "Chemometrics is the chemical discipline that uses mathematical and statistical methods a) to design or select optimal measurement procedures and experiments and b) to provid maximum chemical information by analyzing chemical data.
