Constitution of a Plant Complex with Heat Recovery

In early planning phase of a plant complex, its constitution (combination of plants and their production capacities) is decided. In these plants, there are many hot and cold streams that require cooling and heating, and energy saving is carried out by heat recovery from the hot and cold streams. more » ... odated among the thermodynamically congenial plants with proper production capacities, so that such heat balance should be considered in deciding the constitution of a plant complex. In this study, a method to optimize the constitution from the viewpoint of energy saving is proposed. Deciding the constitution of a complex is defined by optimizing the relative production capacities from their characteristics. As a method to achieve optimization, the Linear Fractional Programming (LFP) model has been developed, and the effectiveness of the model is demonstrated by solving an example problem.
