The scattering of a plane sound wave by tw o infinite, elastic, parallel plates constrained by equally spaced, identical, mechanical line con nectors, which can su p p o rt only com pressional m otion and which are sim ply hinged to both plates, is investigated using F ourier transform s. A form ally exact solution is obtained and investigated asym ptotically when th e only fluid present occupies the half-space from which the sound wave is incident and provides heavy fluid loading to the plate,
