CATALYTIC EPOXIDATIUON OF ALKENES WITH ORGANIC HYDROPEROXIDES IN THE PRESENCE OF A NEW MOLYBDENUM-SQUARATE COMPLEX
unpublished
New molybdenum-containing organic complex based on 3,4-dihydroxy-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione (squaric acid) has been synthesized and characterized by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric (TGA) and elemental analyses. The molybdenum-squarate complex was introduced as catalyst in the epoxidation of structurally different alkenes such as cyclohexene, 1-octene, 2,4,4-trimethyl-1-pentene, 1,5-cyclooctadiene and 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene with tert-butylhydroperoxide (TBHP).
