Ngugi wa Thiong'o: the Afro-European literature and the writing in Kikuyu
2014
Rónai – Revista de Estudos Clássicos e Tradutórios
This paper aims at discussing how translation was present in the work of the Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong'o, above all concerning the very formation of his literary output and his linguistic choice. Using theories from the Translation Studies, as the ones coined by Lawrence Venuti, for instance, I could compare and point out similarities between these theories and some choices from Ngugi. I noted that several options made by Ngugi concerning his literary output are also found in the Translation field.
