Deformation of Silty Clay and Fine Sand in Large Specimens under Pumping and Loading

This study aims to develop information about deformation of large specimens of silty clay and fine sand under water pumping and direct loading. Large samples of silty clay and fine sand were prepared with a diameter of 40 cm and height of 30 cm, and tested in an apparatus respectively. The results revealed that the response of find sand was more quickly than silty clay; but the deformation of silty clay is larger than fine sand under water pumping and direct loading; and the deformation induced

This research is of great significance to study the deformation of silty clay and fine sand in engineering application.
