Improving locality of nonserial polyadic dynamic programming

Dynamic programming (DP) is a commonly used technique for solving a wide variety of discrete optimization problems, which have different variants of dynamic programming formulation. This paper investigated one important DP formulation, which called nonserial polyadic dynamic programming formulation and time complexity is O(n 3 ). We exploit the property of the algorithm to develop a high performance implementation using the combination of cache-oblivious and cache-conscious strategy. The
more » ... ncy in our improved algorithm comes from two sources: reducing the number of cache misses and TLB misses. Experiments on three modern computing platforms show a performance improvement of 2-10 times over a standard implementation of DP formulation.
