Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic and functional gastrointestinal dysfunction characterized by altered bowel movement and abdominal pain and has a complicated etiology. Probiotics are the novel therapy based on better understanding of the disease pathology. Patients and Methods: We conducted a control-placebo study, 157 subjects enrolled in this study, and followed up for 6 months, divided into three groups to compare the effect of probiotics and placebo on IBS patients.
