The suprachiasmatic nucleus {SCN) which consists of rnultipte oscillating neurons is thought to be the anutomical locus efcircadian rhythms in marnmal. Welsh et.al, found out prominent circadian rhythms in fhing rate from individual SCN neuron in disperscd culture {Welsh et. al., Neuron, 14, (1995) 697-706), Each neurons interestingly had intrinsic period lengths, Ar the same tirne, the firing activitics of neurons packed in a SCN tend te be synchronized. SglGSF/SynCAM was known to be inimately involved in the synapse formation through its homophiljc binding in central nervous systcim, but it was found to be expressed on SCG but not on dorsal root ganglion (DRe}, TherefoTe. we studied hcre the rote of SgTGSF/SynCAM in thc interaction between DRG and mast cells. The attachnent of mast cells to DRG neurites was enhaneed depending on the eKpression of SglGSF/SynCAM on mast cetls, and SglGSFtSynCAM on mast cells wus lecaUy concentrated at the cellLacL area with DRG neuritcs, Their adhesion was inhibited by blocking antibedy against SglGSFiSynCAM dose-dependently, In addition, the prebability of ealcium rcsponse in attached mast cells cxpressing SglGSFISynCAM aftet the specific stimuLation uf DRG neurites by scorpien venorn was significantly hjgher than that in mast cells without SglGSFtSynCAM.
