RESUMEN La reconstrucción teórica de un edificio-del cual no queda nada en pie-, es un instrumento a disposición del investigador para dar a conocer a la comunidad científica y mantener vivo en el recuerdo, aquellos inmuebles que, como éste, al encontrarse en las afueras del núcleo urbano, su estruc-tura fue objeto del pillaje y la demolición años después de su desamortiza-ción. Por ello resulta una causa difícil, además de arriesgada, pero que cons-tituye todo un reto para quien la utiliza.

... e la ausencia de documentación gráfica, los archivos y los ejemplos de la arquitectura conventual existentes en Canarias, se convierten en herramientas básicas para recomponer con se-riedad el convento que la Orden Franciscana decidió fundar en esta jurisdic-ción. En este sentido, la consulta del patrimonio documental fue de capital importancia para acometer la rehabilitación de este centro doctrinal y cultural de la Provincia de San Diego de Canarias. ABSTRACT The theoretical reconstruction of a building-from which we have nothing nowadays-is a tool which the researcher has to communicate to the scientific community and to show (remember) alive those buildings whose structure was spoilt for having been placed outside the town, years after their disamortization. For this reason, it comes to be a difficult and risky cause but it is an absolute challenge for those dare to use it. As we don't have graphic documents, archives or examples of the tipycal monastery structure so far in C. Islands, they have become basic tools in order to serionsly rebuilt the monastery which the Franciscan Order decided to rebuilt within this jurisdiction. In this sense, the query to the documentary patrimony was of great importance to execute the rehabilitation of this doc-trinal and cultural center within the Province of S. Diego in Canary Islands.
