Die Super Nanny zwischen Globalisierung und Glokalisierung

At the university of Vienna there was realized in 2005 a project regarding "TV Super Nannys". The project contained a content analysis of the Super Nanny formats in Great Britain, Germany and Austria. Within the context of the thesis "The Super Nanny between Globalization and Glocalization" my aim was to find out to which extent the format of the Super Nanny can be seen as a globalized or a glocalized TV format. more » ... rent countries is respected in the program and where there can be observed specific local cultural factors. In the empiric part of the thesis the first episodes of the British, the Spanish and the Brazilian Super Nanny were analyzed. The British format is the original form of the Super Nanny. The Spanish version only is a copy without having applied a license. The Brazilian producers of Super Nanny applied a license for the distribution of this format. All the episodes of the Super Nanny show families with problems regarding the education of their children. They ask for the help of Super Nanny. The stations decide whether the family is adequate for the show or not. In a first conversation with the station the producers find out the first data about the family and they film the situation of the family. Due to this filming the Super Nanny can prepare the intervention in this family. After the preparation she moves into the house of the family and tries to solve the problems with discussions, coaching and reflections. The dramaturgy always contains two parts: the problem of the family and the demonstration of the solution. The analyze of the episodes of Super Nanny showed that the reality of the education in this countries matches with the problems shown in the program. The format of the Super Nanny is embedded between global elements like the dramaturgy or the appearance of the Super Nanny and glocal elements like the parenting styles or the education techniques.
