In this paper, an explicit construction of c ompactly supported prewavelets on linear nite element spaces is introduced on non-uniform meshes on polyhedron domains and on boundaries of such domains. The obtained bases are s tab l e i n t h e S o bolev spaces H r for jrj < 3 2 . The only condition we need is that of uniform re nements. Compared to existing prewavelets bases on uniform meshes, with our construction the basis transformation f r om wavelet-to nodal b a sis (the wavelet transform) can be implemented more e ciently.
