Strategic Approach to Realize a Healthy and Long-lived Society at the R/D Center for Human Medical Engineering of Gifu University

During the next half century, it is predicted that in our aging society, neighbor senior citizen takes care of a senior citizen increases worldwide. Therefore, preventive medicine to help individuals lead a healthy and long life in such an aging society, advanced medical care, and the development of welfare support technology are essential next tasks. more » ... ality support technical development to promote a healthy and long-lived society. It consists of three divisions coordinated by a strong medical engineering specialty think-tank and contributes both to the advancement of regional industries in the Gifu area and to a globally aging society. The following are our major projects. 1)To promote advanced medical welfare-oriented technologies(preventive medicine, medical examination, humancomputer interaction with augmented sense abilities, and independence support technology)based on an industrygovernment-university combination of research and development. 2)To promote the commercialization of research achievements and newly industrial creations by collaborative relationships with enterprise, as well as the development of altitude specialty engineers and entrepreneurship based on a partnership between graduate school education and research systems. 3)To promote the development of intellectual property rights for research achievements, transfer of technology, fosterage of regional industries by international cooperation, and concentration of education and research. In the text, firstly ideal strategy to solve related issues of aging society with fewer children learn from the book named "Villages of long-lived people and villages of short-lived people in Japan" by Shoji Kondo(1893Kondo( -1977))is introduced, then activities of the center are described.
