The selective degradation of carbohydrate polymers

1977 Pure and Applied Chemistry
Methods for the selective degradation of polysaccharides and glycoproteins are reviewed. Emphasis is placed on procedures giving information on sugar sequences and on the nature of linkages undergoing modification. Special attention is given to a variety of base-catalyzed degradations, to the introduction of acid-sensitive units within carbohydrate chains, and to nitrous acid deaminations of glycosaminides.
