25 ju, to 3.6 ¡jl) broad-band observations of the cataclysmic variable AE Aqr are suggestive of a K5 V secondary and of a distance ~ 70 pc. Monitoring of the source at 2.2 ja, covering about one-third of the orbital period, reveals variability of ~ 30%, the nature of which is still under investigation.
