Tombs, which had been a part of cemetery rituals in Turkic societies, turned into a greater source of information and aesthetical values, partly due to the urbanization after the Turks adopted Islam as their religion. Inscriptions on the tombs in the Ottoman society provide information especially on what sort of occupations and beliefs people had.
