SURFACEN ® inhibits the growth of bacteria causing respiratory infections

One pharmaceutical preparation of exogenous lung surfactant, SURFACEN ® , was tested in vitro on growth of pathogens involved in lung disease. SURFACEN ® at concentration of 1, 10 and 20 mg/mL was incubated with Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escheri-chia coli in saline solution by 5 h at 37 °C.
